Sichuan's foreign trade imports and exports in the first three quarters of this year increased by 14.6% year-on-year

On October 16, Chengdu Customs released Sichuan’s foreign trade import and export data for the first three quarters of this year. According to statistics, in the first three quarters of this year, the total import and export value of Sichuan's trade in goods was 481.44 billion yuan, an increase of 14.6% over the same period last year, which was much higher than the overall national import and export growth of 2.8% during the same period. Among them, exports were 274.53 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 18.7%; imports were 206.91 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 9.5%.

On October 16, Chengdu Customs released Sichuan’s foreign trade import and export data for the first three quarters of this year. According to statistics, in the first three quarters of this year, the total import and export value of Sichuan's trade in goods was 481.44 billion yuan, an increase of 14.6% over the same period last year, which was much higher than the overall national import and export growth of 2.8% during the same period. Among them, exports were 274.53 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 18.7%; imports were 206.91 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 9.5%.
 
The largest amount of imported products is electromechanical products. In the first three quarters, Sichuan imported 180.57 billion yuan of mechanical and electrical products, a year-on-year increase of 8%, accounting for 87.3% of Sichuan’s foreign trade imports during the same period. The largest increase was in consumer products. Among them, imported dairy products increased by 77.1% year-on-year, imported fresh and dried fruits and nuts increased by 42.5 times year-on-year, and imported aquatic products increased by 1.7 times year-on-year.
 
Pan Xudong, Director of the Statistics and Analysis Department of Chengdu Customs, said that the rapid growth of imported consumer goods has benefited from the continuous release of policy effects. Since last year, my country has raised the export tax rebate rate of some products twice, introduced a series of independent tariff reduction policies, and lowered the import value-added tax rate twice, effectively stimulating the vitality of market players. In the first three quarters of this year, the number of enterprises in Sichuan with import and export records reached 5,048, an increase of 13.4% year-on-year; the business environment continued to be optimized, and the level of trade facilitation increased significantly. The overall customs clearance time for Sichuan imports and exports in the first three quarters was compared with the same period in 2018. Compressed 55% and 63%.
 
The diversified export market has achieved remarkable results. In the first three quarters, the growth rates of Sichuan’s exports to countries and regions along the “Belt and Road”, Latin America, and Africa were 23.2%, 40%, and 36.8%, respectively, which were 4.5, 21.3, and 18.1 higher than Sichuan’s overall export growth rates in the same period. Percentage points, which strongly supported the growth of Sichuan’s foreign trade.
 
The pattern of regional foreign trade has become more optimized. In the first three quarters, Chengdu’s imports and exports amounted to 415.61 billion yuan, an increase of 18.6% year-on-year, accounting for 86.3% of Sichuan’s total foreign trade value. The growth rate of some cities and prefectures in eastern Sichuan was significantly ahead of the average level of the province. Among them, Nanchong and Dazhou increased by 2.4 times year-on-year respectively, Pakistan increased by 54.7% year-on-year, and Suining increased by 51.6% year-on-year.
 
From the perspective of the nature of enterprises, foreign-invested enterprises account for a relatively high proportion, and the vitality of private enterprises in foreign trade continues to increase. In the first three quarters, the import and export of foreign-invested enterprises increased by 19.5% year-on-year, accounting for 67.7% of Sichuan's total foreign trade value, an increase of 2.8 percentage points from the same period last year. In the same period, the import and export of private enterprises increased by 20.7% year-on-year, accounting for 23.6% of Sichuan's total foreign trade value.
 
According to the analysis by the relevant person in charge of Chengdu Customs, although the current external environment is still complex and severe, and uncertainties and uncertainties have increased, the general trend of Sichuan’s strong foreign trade development, optimization of foreign trade structure, and accelerated power conversion has not changed. From the perspective of the import and export scale of 54 billion yuan per month, foreign trade will continue to maintain an overall stable and stable development trend of quality improvement throughout the year.
